Warm Brownie Pudding Cake

3/4 cup flour
3/4 cup white sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/3 cup plus 1/4 cup cocoa
1/2 cup milk
3 T melted butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 3/4 cups boiling water
whipped cream or ice cream (optional)

Combine flour, white sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and 1/3 cup cocoa in a medium bowl. Combine milk, butter and vanilla in a measuring cup; stir into dry ingredients until just blended. Spoon batter evenly into greased 9x9 square dish.

Combine brown sugar and remaining 1/4 cup cocoa in a small bowl. Sprinkle evenly over batter. Pour boiling water over entire mixture- DO NOT STIR.

Bake for 35-38 minutes at 350 degrees. Serve with whipped cream or over ice cream.
