Snickerdoodles

1 cup shortening, part butter or margerine
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
2 T. sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon, combined

Mix shortening, sugar and eggs thoroughly. Blend flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt, and mix into shortening mixture.

Shape into 1" balls and roll in cinnamon/sugar mixture. Place 2" apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
