Red Wine Cake

1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
4 eggs
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp cocoa powder
1/2 cup shiraz or other red wine
4 oz grated semisweet or bittersweet chocolate

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Using an electric mixer, cream together butter and sugar. Add vanilla and beat in eggs. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and cocoa. Add dry ingredients to butter mixture alternately with wine until well blended. Stir in grated chocolate. Pour into two greased and floured 8" cake pans and bake for 45 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
